Sri Lanka, Elephant Orphanage and Anuradhapura, 24 Sep 2012

I hired a car and driver for a 6 day tour of some of the sites of Sri Lanka, cost Rs.5,500 ($42) per day including 100km, Rs.45 ($0.35) per extra km. Hotels are around $50 a day and the driver gets free accommodation at the hotels. First stop the Elephant Orphanage at Pinnawala, then north to Anuradhapura the Ancient capital of Sri Lanka. Good roads for the most part but slow going due to the many villages and towns along the way. Its hotter and drier in the North.

    Fantastic tour; loved all the elephant pictures. Reminds me of the big elephant I have sitting on my coffee table… enjoy your travels!
