Zagreb to Bucharest – The only direct flight available was with Air China which carries on to Beijing. It took a little over an hour which was a good thing because there was limited legroom more like a budget airline but the airfares were the same as a full service airline. Landed in Bucharest and there was a problem with picking up my rental car, the company said my credit card was rejected and wanted to charge me an additional 400 euro which I declined. After some research I decided to use the busses which are cheap, fast and frequent. After about 2 hours of driving my hands start to ache and cramp so I took it as an omen hahaha. I spent the night at a hotel close to the airport and caught the bus the following day. It took 3.5 hrs to get to Constanta with a 20 minute break halfway, comfortable seats and plenty of legroom.

Constanta is one of the oldest cities in Romania. It dates back to 657 BC when a Greek colony called Tomis was formed. The town was conquered by the Romans in 71 BC and renamed Constantiana after the sister of Emperor Constantine the Great. It is the largest port in the Black Sea and a popular seaside resort. While I was there it was cold 15c, not exactly beach weather and there were no tourists. I visited the Art Museum which has 3 floors with big bright rooms and hundreds of paintings mostly modern art. And a Church while a service was in progress, probably a celebration of some sort and not a regular service but people were taking communion. In summer it will be packed with tourists.
