I drove back to Gatwick and returned the Hire car then flew to Valencia, Spain on Easyjet. It was an uneventful direct flight and took 2.5 hours. Easyjet has a whole floor at Gatwick Airport for Check-in and Bag drop, very well organised and there were tens of their planes at the gates, I never knew they were so big.

Valencia – founded as a Roman colony in 138 BC, population 2.5 million. It should definitely be on your list of Spanish cities to visit. There is an old town and the City of Arts and Sciences has some specacular buildings. The Metro is extensive, clean, organised and cheap, there are also busses so it is very easy to get around. I bought a 72 hour Valencia card online and only used it for Public transport which was overkill, I did not need it for discounts because I was given the discount anyway being a Senior citizen hahaha. I was expecting to collect it from a machine at the airport and use it straight away but the machine was not working so I had to buy a Metro card as well to leave the airport and collect the card the following day from the Tourist Office, live and learn. The weather was 30c with blue skies and many tourists wandering around.

Parròquia de Sant Nicolau de Bari i Sant Pere Màrtir de València. The inside of this church is completely painted with images and they have a 15 minute light show, quite unique. Watch the videos at the end.
