Romania – Brasov, 12 – 14 July 2025

Deva to Brasov – 316 kms in 3:43 hrs, one fuel stop at the end, at the beginning I turned onto the onramp going the wrong way and had to ride to the next exit which was 22km away and turn around so 44 km detour and 25 minutes longer ride. Fine and cool weather all the way a few clouds towards the end, about 200km of freeway and 120km of back roads slow going due to the constant parade of small villages with 50kph speed limits. A couple of big towns, a few bikes on the road, many Stork nests on top of power poles,  it must be summer. The roads in Romania have improved considerably compared to 2013 when they were in need of repair. Brasov – a fairly big city with many tourists and quite a few American tourists as well. Good roads and public transport, a single ride on the bus costs 5 lei 0r 1 euro, Uber costs €3 for most rides. I found a craft brewery restaurant by accident just walking past hahaha, have not seen one for a while. There is a huge Cathedral called the Black church here not Orthodox and very plain inside. The Town Hall has a tiny museum with some interesting tales. The old town has many old well preserved buildings and is very nice to walk around.
